If you aren't familiar with Kenneth Lane vintage costume jewelry you should be. Kenneth Lane costume jewelry has been worn by the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Kennedy Onassis, and Claudette Colbert.

Born in Detroit Michigan he attended the University of Michigan for two years obtaining a degree in advertising. Kenneth Lane then went on to study at the Rhode Island School of Design and he did not begin his career in jewelry, rather he started as a shoe designer for Dior. Soon after he began to design jewelry that would accessorize the shoe collection he was building. He was very interested in the works of Cartier and Tiffany. Before long he was designing incredible costume jewelry pieces.

Whether you are looking for a gift for your sweetheart or your mother Lane's jewelry has something to offer. His pieces are really quite extraordinary and each is themed so that's why it is so easy to find something to fit the wardrobe of everyone.

Kenneth Lane designed brooches, earrings, pendants, and necklaces. Elegant faux pearls, crystal rhinestones, gold tones, silver tones from gold and silver plated metals, emerald cut stones, glass pave stones, all of which create some of the most striking costume jewelry pieces around.

Vintage jewelry has so much to offer the woman with their own fashion sense. Whether rhinestones are your love or paste stones made from vibrant colored glass you won't be disappointed in what Kenneth Lane offers.

It's no wonder he earned the title "King of Costume Jewelry." This was a man that took an industry that was previously ignored and turned it into one of the most sought after fashion statements. Lane felt every woman had the right to look beautiful and glamorous and it should be as easy to accomplish with costume jewelry, as it was to accomplish with million dollar diamond jewelry.

Lane worked in ways that were different from many of the other costume jewelry designers. He worked in a less commercial way and all of his designs were original. Kenneth Lane was a real showman taking all kinds of fashion awards. He regularly provided pieces to the soap operas including Days of our Lives and Another World.

In 2003 Lane had been in business 40 years, and he has yet to disappoint. There are so many different designs and styles that you can find a modern jewelry piece or a vintage jewelry piece. That's a lot of options for you.

Whether you love the past and its designs or you prefer today's contemporary pieces you will never be disappointed if you choose a Kenneth Lane design. The worst part will be deciding what it is you will buy. It's tough when there are so many great designs.

And if Kenneth Lane's jewelry isn't quite right for you (although that seldom happens) there are plenty of other vintage jewelry designers and modern designers too.
